Happy 1st Birthday Milley, Maddison, and Marley

Our little girls turned one today, and we had a big party to celebrate. It has been an amazing and crazy year and it went by way too fast! We still can't believe how blessed we are to have had three perfect babies all at once! Marley is leading the pack and walking already. Maddison is standing on her own, but hasn't built up the courage to take a step yet. Milley is still army crawling, but pulling herself up to things and moving around. We feel so lucky to be their parents...they have blessed our lives in so many ways. Jex and Kaydence love them so much, and have a hard time sharing them with anyone else. Here are a few pictures from their birthday celebration.

A Typical Day at the Barber House

We thought we would give you a glimpse of our daily routine and how things have changed for us in the past few months...

After a few hours of "light sleep" the "feeding frenzy" usually begins around 5-6 a.m. BJ heads to work sometime between 6-8 a.m. depending on when he finally drags himself out of bed. Kristin juggles feeding three hungry babies while getting Jex out the door for school and making sure Kaydence limits her morning kisses for the babies to under 20 or so...She loves to do everything that mommy does and thinks she can handle it all by herself.

Kristin spends her day feeding, bathing, and changing the triplets...she tries to fit pumping somewhere in between. The girls eat about every 3-4 hours which equals about 18-20 bottles a day, while disposing of 25-30 diapers a day...

After getting Kaydence dressed and teeth brushed, Kristin takes a quick shower and gets ready for the day (keep in mind, it's usually about noon by now...)

Jex gets home from school at 2:30, gets a snack, and does his homework.

Dad usually gets home between 4-5 p.m. Then it's a team effort to make dinner, get kids in the bath, brush teeth, do dishes, read stories, and get kids settled and to sleep at a decent hour (all while trying to feed and change three hungry babies).

We like to try and feed all three at the same time around 9-10 p.m. and get them down to sleep. They will usually sleep (off and on) until about 2-3 a.m. and wake up to eat again...then the cycle begins again.

We have been very fortunate to have family members close by that have given up their sleep to come spend the night on some weeknights so that mom and dad can get some good uninterrupted sleep...

It's a lot of work, but it's definitely worth it, and we wouldn't trade our family for anything! It took a bit to adjust, but we've gotten into a really good routine, and things almost seem normal again...Here are a few pictures of our five amazing children.

Picture Update

Jena (our sister-in-law) came over the other day and snapped off a bunch (150+) of photos of the girls in matching outfits. They turned out beautiful! Obviously, there are too many to load them all here, but we have attached a few for your viewing pleasure. Thanks Jena! For those that are wanting to know...Milley has on the dark pink flower, Maddison is the light pink flower, and Marley is the green flower.

Milley was born at 3 lbs. 13 oz. and now weighs 8 lbs. 14 oz. We like to call her "silly Milley" and she loves to lay on the floor and talk and talk and talk...

Maddison was born at 3 lbs. 10 oz. and now weighs 9 lbs. She started out as "mad Maddy" with a whole lot of attitude and a good set of lungs to let us know when she was mad, but has really mellowed out lately. She smiles a lot now, and only has her "fits" once or twice a day...

Marley was born at 3 lbs. 12 oz. and now weighs 9 lbs. 12 oz. We call her "mellow Marley" or "Chubbers". She was the first one to smile and hasn't stopped, and she never misses a meal...

We tried to put them all together, but as you can see, they're already acting like sisters...they can't stand each other! They usually lay pretty well together, and suck on each others fists, but they were just having one of those days...

Look ma...no oxygen!

Milley is free of her oxygen! We started weaning her off shortly after she got home, and the doctor told us that we could take it off completely. (She's actually been off for over two weeks now...we've just been too busy to post!) Below are a couple of pictures of her cute little face with no tubes up her nose. We've got a picture update for all of the girls coming soon...maybe.

Home at last!

Well, the girls finally made it home! Maddison and Marley came home on Sunday, January 10th completely free of all wires, oxygen, monitors, etc... Milley made the trip home on Thursday, January 14th. She came home "plugged in" as she is still on a small amount of oxygen and an apnea monitor. Here are a couple of pictures of them hanging out on the couch. More to come later, but we're a little busy right now, so no promises...
